We Formidable Genealogists have always loved tintypes, ambrotypes, dagguereotypes, and any other kind of "types" we can get our hands on.
I decided to emulate my very grim 3rd great grandmother in the 1870s, Martha Scott White. She was born in Ohio in 1835 and died at the age of 82 in 1917 in Los Angeles. She's buried near Lincoln, Nebraska, where she and her husband homesteaded for over 35 years. She outlived him by 26 years. I actually have a small quilt that she made in 1904 for my grandpa, who was her great grandson.
