The NCAA men's basketball tournament is in full swing, and I've been hearing a lot of talk about busted brackets.
This is my favorite kind of bracket. However, mine is busted at this 4th-great-grandparent. He's the only one of that generation whose name I don't know. With 64 4th-great-grandparents, only missing one is almost perfect. But not quite.
This guy was my bracket-buster last year too. Hopefully by this time next year I will have advanced to the fifth round--evening out my 5th great-grandparent level. In reality, though, I know some mysteries might never be solved. Even with dozens or hundreds of hours.
In our professional work, just as with our personal family trees, sometimes we can only work toward a solution rather than finding the solution.
