Do you have a family legend?
My grandmother always said that we were related to Mary Todd Lincoln. We have some Todds in our family, but not the same as Mrs. Lincoln's. Not in the last 300 years, anyway.
Don't be disappointed if a family legend turns out to be partially true, or even wholly untrue. I promise your family's history is interesting and valuable all on its own.
