"Norge i Amerika"

I came across the most fascinating book on the Norwegian National Library website. The 1901 book is called "Norway in America" and is basically a directory of Norwegians living in America. I found BOTH of my Norwegian immigrant great-great-grandfathers in it for Hudson, South Dakota. Jacob Jensen is listed and so is Hans Paulson. The interesting thing about Hans is that in here he's listed as H. Nerseth. He grew up on Nerseth farm in Vestre Toten. He never actually went by that name in the US, instead choosing his patronymic.
