Genealogy Unconference in Cancun

Join Jen Shaffer of The Formidable Genealogist, Kate Penney Howard, Alec Ferretti, and Katy Bodenhorn for a collaborative Genealogy Unconference in Cancun!
This is not a traditional lecture-based conference. Instead, we'll focus on conversation, collaboration, problem-solving, shared expertise, and building community through interactive large- and small-group activities.
There will also be plenty of time for socializing, enjoying the resort, and relaxing on the beach.

If the Genealogy Unconference does not move forward, your registration will be refunded.
Conference registration does not include hotel accommodations, airfare, or other travel expenses. We recommend estimating your total travel costs before registering.

There is no fee to use Kelly's services. We recommend contacting her for an estimate before purchasing your conference registration. One advantage over booking yourself is that Kelly's packages include the airport shuttles to the resort.
Please confirm resort inclusions, airport transfers, airfare terms, and cancellation policies directly with Kelly. We also recommend considering travel insurance, especially for nonrefundable travel expenses.

Schedule
Thursday, January 21
Arrive and join us Thursday evening for informal social time.
Friday–Sunday, January 22–24
Three full days of interactive and collaborative genealogy activities.
Expect facilitated discussions, group problem-solving, collaborative learning, and opportunities to share expertise rather than traditional lectures.
Downtime will be built into the schedule for socializing, beach and resort activities, or relaxing on your own. You may eat meals with the group or independently.
The event concludes Sunday evening. We recommend arriving Thursday afternoon and departing Monday. You may also be able to extend your stay at our discounted group rate for 3 days before or after, subject to availability.
 
Roommates
Attendees interested in sharing accommodations to save money will have an opportunity to connect with others looking for roommates. Participation is optional, and attendees are responsible for choosing their own roommates and lodging arrangements. 
 
Help Shape the Unconference
After registering, you'll receive a link to a form asking about your genealogy interests, specialties, challenges, and topics you'd most like to explore. Your feedback will help us plan the programming.
Confirmed registrants will also be invited to a private Facebook group for event updates, connecting with other attendees, and roommate discussions.
 
Included With Registration
All registered attendees will receive digital copies of The Formidable Genealogist's full PDF research guide collection not long before the event.
 
Refund Policy
You may request a refund within 7 days of purchasing your registration.
After 7 days, registration payments are nonrefundable if you choose not to attend. If the organizers cancel the Genealogy Unconference, conference registration payments will be refunded.
Refunds do not include airfare, lodging, transportation, insurance, or other travel expenses booked separately. Please review cancellation policies carefully before making travel arrangements.

Travel and lodging are separate from conference registration. Attendees are responsible for their own travel documents, passport requirements, transportation, personal belongings, insurance, health and safety needs, and travel arrangements.
